FOP President Walter Powers has called a special meeting of the Fraternal Order of Police for Thursday, June 25, 2015.
All FOP Crescent City Lodge delegates to the 2015 National Conference should attend this meeting as delegate credentials and travel checks will be distributed.
Our active NOPD police officers should also attend to hear from three of the FOP's true labor leaders, including Shane Shapiro from Baltimore.
FOP State Lodge officers and members serving as delegates from other FOP Lodges in the Metropolitan New Orleans area are also invited to attend this meeting.

FOP National 2nd Vice President Frank Gale will appear and speak on Media Relations during Critical Incidents.
Frank Gale is a candidate for re-election at the 2015 conference

Frank Gale is a veteran of the Denver County Sheriff's Departmetn and is one of a hand-full of deputies responsible for attaining collective bargaining rights for his Denver FOP Sheriff's Lodge. Frank still serves on the Negotiation Team for Denver Deputies also serves as its spokesperson.
Since being elected to the FOP National Executive Board in 2004, Frank has made his main focus the preservation, advancement, expansion, and improvement of the FOP labor-related programs and services offered by the National FOP. He has been instrumental in assisting local and state lodges fight off attacks from competing organizations, and preserving the FOP as the Bargaining Agent for many agencies. He remains active in his local lodge and is still very much involved in representing and advocating for members in grievances, Internal Affairs interviews, Critical Incidents and Labor/Management Disputes.
Frank Gale is the recipient of the Denver Sheriff Department's Medal of Valor, two Denver Sheriff Department Lifesaving medals, the Sheriff Department's Medal of Merit and numerous additional commendations from the Denver Sheriff Department as well as other agencies and community organizations. Frank has also received the Colorado FOP Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
FOP National Secretary Patrick Yoes will appear and speak on Attacks on Law Enforcement across the Nation.
Pat Yoes is a candidate for re-election at the 2015 conference

Patrick Yoes has been an active member in the Fraternal Order of Police for over 31 years. Since joining the St. Charles (LA) local lodge #15 in 1984, he has held nearly every elected position, including seven terms as lodge president. Pat has also been active on the state level and has served on the Louisiana State Lodge Executive Board for more than twenty-two years, including six two-year terms as LAFOP State President. Pat presently serves as the Louisiana State FOP Lodge Past-President.
In 2000, Patrick was recognized as the National Fraternal Order of Police Jack Dudek Member of the Year in recognition of his service and dedication to his community, his department, and the FOP on the local, state and national levels. Patrick was serving as National Sergeant-at-Arms when in 2004 he was elected National Secretary, a position he still holds today.
Pat Yoes is employed as a Captain by the St. Charles Sheriff's Office, the sole law enforcement agency for St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, a suburb 20 miles west of New Orleans, LA.
He is the author of a book documenting the Fraternal Order of Police's role in supporting first responders during and following the momentous Hurricane Katrina disaster. Chest Deep and Rising: The Hurricane Katrina Nightmare is a revealing and inspiring chronicle of one of the most horrifying events in U.S. history. Proceeds from the sale of the book are donated to the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation, which provided over $1 million to the nearly 2,000 members left homeless by the Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
FOP Maryland Lodge 34 President Shane Shapiro will appear and speak on Lessons Learned in Baltimore
Shane Shapiro serves as President of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 34, and works as a Transportation Authority police officer in the Baltimore, MD. area.
Shane will present his thoughts on the lessons learned from the rioting that followed the Freddie King incident in Baltimore, Maryland and the subsequent arrest and indictment of six Baltimore police officers. Shane will also be interested in hearing from our members on the trials and tribulations of a Department of Justice patterns and practices investigation, as the Baltimore Police Department is going through that process at this time and will certainly end up working under a federal consent decree.
Many Crescent City Lodge members know Shane from his many visits to New Orleans and from his excellent Facebook posts under the moniker Hulk Shane.
